Counseling

Counseling services for students are free and confidential. College is a new and exciting phase of life, but change and new challenges can create stress and anxiety. Our services are offered in a welcoming atmosphere, and we strive to promptly accommodate students. It’s important that the Counseling Center be a safe, approachable place with services that are easy to access. We offer:

  •  Brief counseling for individuals
  • Consultation to students, faculty, staff, and parents
  • Screenings and assessments
  • Assistance with referrals to community resources
  • Outreach and education
  • Spiritual direction
  • Crisis intervention

Choices, an alcohol abuse prevention and harm reduction program, helps students make better decisions regarding alcohol and is separate and more thorough than other general outreach campaigns. Students may be referred to Choices through the judicial process after an alcohol violation or simply to address alcohol concerns. The program uses screening, education and interactive journalism to help students understand the risks of alcohol and gives them effective strategies for reducing those risks.
